Welsh, who resides on Riverside avenue, through his at torney filed a demand with the coun cil for an adjustment or settlement for injuries sustained recently when he fell into an open hole on Riverside. The matter was referred to the fi nanco committee. A few days ago A. Ii. Duffy was paid $600 for fall ing into the same hole. The city hns been doing some work in that neighborhood repairing the water system nnd a hole was left open. It is said that no lights were disnlovnd. Mr. Gerlg stated today that he would pay a substantial reward for tho apprehension of tho guilty parties and their conviction. Plats of Howard's and Winchester additions to tho city of Mcdford were accepted. An ordinance vacating tho alley in block 1, Central subdivision, was passed. Tho sidewalks- on Clark street were ordered brought to grade. , A number of resolutions ordering paving on various streets were passed. It was stated in the petition that Mr. Amann's duties ns chief of the de partment have increased to a great extent owing to the growth of the city and that nearly his entire time is now devoted to tho work. So far he has worked 'without salary other than tho $1 paid members of the fire de partment for responding to alarms. Tho multer was referred to the fi nance committee for a report.
