Mr. and Mrs. V. S. Steenstrup are visitlcatlng on Beaver Creek. Miss Nellie Dumford was-among Ashland friends Sunday. Miss M. B. Towne of Phoenix was the guest of Mrs. M day. Misses Clara Elmer, Leila Prim, Jr. Donegan, Fay Sears, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ulrlch, Mrs. W. II. Barnum, J. Percy Walls, J. C. Barnum and Geo. II. Merrltt formed a jolly party who picnicked on the banks of the Ap plegato Sunday. Quite a number of mountain trout were captured. Mrs. Ruby Eaton Fox of San Fran cisco and Mrs. John Rapp of Grant county, her sister, arrived in Jackson ville during tho week, on a visit to their former home. Dr. Golden, late of Coos Bay, has succeeded to the practice of Dr. Hes ter and received a hearty welcome from our citizens. Frank Klser, who has been visiting relatives living at Los Angeles, re turned Thursday evening, accompan ied by his little son. Mrs. M. 11. Coleman, who has been visiting her son. County Clerk Cole man, has returned to her home near Talent. Jas.' M. Cantrall was over from Ap plegato Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Pope. Geo. How ard, Jr., Mrs. Celine Welch, Mrs. Ruby Fox and Mrs. Margery Bradford have been camping at Jas. Goldsby's place on Applegato during tho past week. Tho streets of Jacksonville, need sprinkling badly. So much automo bile traffic makes tho dust very heavy on them. Tho hoard of trustees has wisely advertised for bids for doing this work. J. By that means savin" the people of a large section of the present county the necessity of going almost across the county to reach the present county seat. Of course it will be left to those interested to Iny where the county scat will be but the natural and most suitable place will bo Eagle Point with its many natural advantages, its fine water power healthful advantages that we now enjoy.
