This list showed many ! Medl'onl's best "buliove.l to be" booster and loyal citimis. Mow, it JlcdTord is K" t uphold its repu tation as a live, progressive city with n Commercial club that bus the repu tation of doing original things in development, and promotion work, and ready to back up Mich idea-. with financial support, tlie must hae citizens and members of the Commercial club, who do more than talk load, and leavo it to the other fellow to fool the hills. ,Thitf libl hhowh really who (he U- al people of Mud ford are, that are giving a mite toward maintaining the supremacy of Aledfortl and keeping it in the bright limelight of the world at large by supporting the bone and sindw of the city, its Commercial club. The list also shows who of the many "enterprising" appearing citi zens in the city and valley are not giving u helping hand or doing their fair and proper share ia bringing in creased development and' propcrit to iledford and to themselves indi vidually. During tho month, a number of the members who are loyal and public spirited, and to whom much of Med ford's prosperity is owing, called upon the merchants and citizens, who were thought to appreciate tire val uable work, of the Commercial club in the past, and ask for a subscrip tion to maintain the high .standard which ifedford has given to the com mercial world. It is needless to say that many welcomed the "subscrip tion" committee, and again placed their imprint for a continuance ot the monthly subscription and dues; but too many were encountered who are of the side-stepping sort, who are always, ready with some flimsy excuse, and who in the past have let the other fellow bear the load of ob ligation, which has been the result of I increased business and enhanced val ues of his property. Now, it is cer tainly not fair to allow sueh a con dition to go om. every busine.-s man knows that this is'a had state of af fairs for everybody in Medford. The Commercial club must continue to be a real "live wire, necensary to our city juU as much as our ixj-.toffic.-e. banks and city administration. Every one should hclpinnd not per mti the burden Jo fall upon a small number of our peoule who are of the deserving and enterprising class. Others make the excuse when called upon to subscribe a small amount for publicity work, state that they feel grieved for not being asked to Tiecomo a member, or find some other means of crawling out. The Commercial club is not a closed corporation, it is not a so cial organization. Every white, law abiding citizen is welcome to join its memberhip. In fact it is his duly to belong, and therefore should not wait to bo asked or invited. The club belongs to him as much as it does to the older members, who have been so tuceessfal in building up this community, and through whose effort and loyalty so ninny who are not members nor lending their support, lire deriving great benefit.
