Tardy train servlco caused a crowd ed house to wait In good natured pa tience for over an hour Thursday eve ning to witness "Madame Sherry," loudly heralded as tho premier at traction of the season. Tho time was not wholly lost, howover, ns the fash ionable audience could admire those wonderful artistic decorations adorn ing thnt dear Medford theater, where the artist has certainly "dono his damndest" and angels could do no more. They gazed Ir. rapt admira tion at that pride of Hazelrlgg's cur tain, with Its quaint 57 varieties of legends. They rend of tho man who "does nothing but Insurance," of that celebrated oculist who has "no oth er business," of that enterprising realty dealer, "him thoy have bought their places from," of the cigar house whose specialty Is "hwolesallng retail dealers," of the "soda works deliv ered at your door" and of the store where they have "overythlug In drugs and Lowney's candy." "Madame Sherry," probably so named because there was no such lady, though, goodness knows, there ougjit to have been, might bo called a dancing musical farce, with tho pe culiar Idiotic, semi-hypnotic, slum suggestive, dance originated by the "Merry Widow" ns a leading stunt. But the dnnco was not the'only thing suggestive about tho performance, for in this latter category must be Included tho apology for a plot and the Frenchified numor, The music, and every little tune has a music of Its own nowadays, consisted of variations of ono catchy air.
