Wlilto died Tuesday nt her homo at the corner of B street and Elrst avenue In Ashland, aged 81 years, 7 months and 5 days of paralysis, after an Illness of three years'. Decensod wob the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter M. (laniard, and was born at BriBtol Hill, N. Y. When 8 years old her parcntB moved to Jones vllle, Mich., where slio was raised, and where sho wns united In mar- rlago with Lytlo J. White, Juno 2C, 184 4. Mr. and Mrs. White and children came to Oregon via tho Is thmus of Panama and Crescent City In 1858, and after a resldenco of some mouths in Josephine county, located at Hock Point. At Hock Point they conducted a hotel and ntngo station for many years. Mrs. White prepared tho flrBt meal and the last meal for the stage passen gers at that station and has tho long est record of such servlco of any woman between Portland and San l-'ranclsco. The high water of the Hoguo river in 1801 washed away their hotel and toll bridge, Tho fam ily then resided about ono year at Lovoim Station In tho Cow Creek can yon, after which thoy returned to Hock Point and rebuilt tho hotel. Her husband passed awny October 2C, 1877. Mrs. Whltn moved to hor present homo In Ashland In 1885. Sho wns ono of tho graud old ploncor women of Bouthorn Oregon and was possess ed of flno moral qualities that wrought good Influences wherever sho was known.
