The evening was given over en tirely to social enjoyment and the guests wore given a "Jolly good time," ns one of the guests Bald nfter tho meeting. A small part of tho early portion of tho evening was de voted to routino business. Speeches were made by soveral prominent men, Judge Colvig being the first speaker, and was introduced by President Garner. Mr. Colvig spoke on tho close re lationship of tho two Institutions and tho cordial good will the Commercial club had for tho much needed new association. Secretary Malbocut of the Com mercial club followed and gave an Interesting talk on both Institutions and their duties. Later ho gave some interesting facts about tho growth of the valley and now possibilities of production. J. M. Itoot followed and In his speech, which won Instant applause, he pleaded for tho abandonment of Hast and West Side rivalry and In Its place a rivalry for a Greater Mcdford. KIrby S. Miller and Professor O'Gara spoke on their" work and many Interesting features wero presonted. Irving Worthington followed and In his address., he urged nnd gave facts supporting his claim, that more Irrigation bo done in the dry or des ert lands and that this work bo pro moted to Its fullest extent and possibilities. An analysis of tho voting In tho elec tions yesterday shows that tho so ciety women and those in tho ton dorlolu district voted almost solidly against the ordinance against trea lug and two wards whero tho greater part of the voters aro working mon returned largo majorities for tho or dinance. In tho so-called "silk-stocking" ward of the city the ordinance was snowed under, the socloty women turning out In full force and working vigorously for tho defeat of tho meas ure. In tho Second wnrd, which takes In the saloon and red light district, the voto was almost two to ono against tho ordinance.
