MAKOH 3, 1911. ? 2& STOCK SHOW T First Annual Exhibition of Its Kind ,Evcr Held 'West of Denver Sched uled for Union Stock Yards on March 20. PORTLAND, Or.. March 3. The fat stock show sit the Union stock yards in North Portland, March 'JO, 21 and 22 will bo the first annual exhibition of its kind hold wc-t ol Dunvor. It will bo purely educa tional, there being no admission fee. and the plan is to promote the inter ests of the livestock man. Cattle, horse,- sheep and hogs will be shown James .1. Hill of the Great North ern and Judge Hubert S. Lovett ol the llarriman lines have lent theii support to the show and the two mil toad systems will co-operate in every way to make it a success. Dur ing the show there will be a sale ol thoroughbred beef cattle and a great display of draft horsos will be a fea ture. A special rate of one and one third fares has been granted by tin railroads from Washington, Oregon Idaho and northern California. Although it costs nothing to entei stock prizes will be liberal, some amounting to .$150 each. These arc offered for enttle, grade and cross bred sinble cteers, swine, sheep, wethers and draff horses and there will also he a killing contest. Thoro will be a students' judging contest on the -afternoon of the first day, followed by lectures on livestock topics. On March 21 will be judging of carload lots of cattle, judging ui single steers; judging cars of hogs n pens of five; judging sheep in car loads; judging sheep in jhmis of five; judging wethers, single animals.
