The trial of Ralph Butler, arrested hy tho pollco of Portland last week upon a warrant sworn to hy District Attorney D. P. Mulkey hero charging him with non-support of his wife, will be held before Justlco of the Peaco Henry G. Dox in Jacksonville Tues day. The case is transferred to Jack sonville from Justice Glenn O. Tay lor'a court here, ho being at present out of tho city. According to tho information in tho hands of the district attorney's office, Butler, who is a son of a prominent Portland attorney, nnd who is now a student in a dontnl college In Port land, mnrried the woman ho Is now accused of refusing to support In Cal ifornia. She is now employed, when the condition of her health permits her to work, In a store In Ashland. Butler was arrested In Portland and released on $250 ball. Ho came to this city this morning In response to a communication from Constable Slngler to tho effect that tho trial was abejut to be called. Judge E. E. Kol ley Is his counsel. Later, after ho came to this country, ho lenrned tho catch-as-catch-can stylo peculiar to this country. He has been here flvo years, and haB tried his skill against tho best men here. He wrestled Frank Gotch for tho championship of the world in 1908 at Rochester, N. Y and was thrown by tho champion in 15 minutes. Tho funeral of the Into Mrs. Au gusta Helms, 73 years old, who died at tho family residence at Jackson ville shortly before midnight last Sat urday, will be held Tuesday after noon at 2 o'clock. To, Mrs. Helms belonged tho dis tinction of being ono of tho pioneer white women on the Pacific coast. She was born In Hamburg, but camo to this country nt the age of 1G. With her parents sho took up her resi dence In Yroka, Cal., but came to Jacksonvlllo In 1SG1. The dny after her arrival In this county sho mar ried Herman V. Helms, and as a brido moved Into tho homo In Jacksonvlllo In which her denth occurred. Sho becamo a widow In 1899. Sho was a charter member of the Ruth lodge of the Rebckahs and also a member of Adarlol lodco. Jacksonville, of tho Eastern Stnr.
