Receipts at the Portland Union stockyards for the week have- been: Cattlo 2745, calves GC, hogs CC3, sheep C291, horses 25. This week's market was an up and down affair. Strength developed on Monday, only to weaken on Thurs day, when an enormous run appear ed. Tho market Friday was fully a quarter off and steady for tho lower basis. Prime- steers were offering moro freely and high prices ruled on this classX Tho bulk sold around C. Butchor cattle were steady to lowor after Thursday. The hog market was a shade high er, if anything. One lot of extra quality Bold at $8.65, but tho extreme top today is considered ?S.G0. Re ceipts were light and all from coast points. Trade- In the sheep houso broke under tho strain of a mutton aval ancho fully a half dollar and grain fed yearlings and wethers are quoted from $4.50 to $4.76. Lambs $0 to $0. C5. Buyors are Jndifforent to any thing but strictly top quality. Trade In tho horso market was comparatively quiet as tho supply on hand was very light. Demand continues good for heavy drafters.
