The noonday sun showered the multi-colored bills with geld: a deli cate touch of winter had painted in brilliance tho falling leaves, and crimson and yellow and dark of the evergreen mingled in tangled pro fusion along the hill slopes. Over all was the great round sun which shed light nnd heat w'ith prodigal hand. It was a dny in keeping with tho spirit of the festivnl. Christmas day was generally ob served throughout the city. The churches were crowded at all ser vices. Elaborate choral services worn rendered. Nearly every home wit nessed some family gathering where all entered into tho spirit of tho oc casion.
