APPLE MARKET UNSATISFACTORY Demand for Spitzenbergs and High Price Varieties Unsatisfactory On Other Hand, Medium Varieties Are Wanted by Buyers in East. Tho Northwestern Fruit Exchange in its latest market bulletin says: Apples Ono of the, grcatcst needs of the northwest is thorough organ ieation of tho fruit growors at ship ping points. Fruit growers do them selves n tremendous injustico wncn they fail to rccognizo this need. The old adage, "United wo stand, divid nd wo fall." never had a better il- Insti-iilinn limn ill tllft CrOWmg of fruit. Local organization affects niuny needy reforms, and result In actually higher prices. For in stance whore a local association is organized on a business basis and has the proper control of its mem bership, it is possible to sell ahead. It is not possible to sell ahead where it is not possible to assure the buyer of definito grade and specifications. Furthermore, a local association en ables tho shipment of cars of straight vnriotics. Wbile it is true that this exchange has found buyers for mixed cars at really remarkable prices, litis year, it will bo seen im mediately that the shipment of mix ed cars is as a general proposition very inadvisable Take a car with from six to a dozen different arie iies, containing thrco different gades, the bulk o the varieties it' that car may bo desirable in a cer tain market, but there will almost surely bo other varieties which are undesirable, and on which tho buyer will insist on a discount in order to havo him from a Joss. On tho other hand, this same car in some other market might prove to be de sirable in the opposite varieties and undesirable in the othors, so in or der to get top notch value for every variety shipped they should bo ship ped in straight cars. The samo rule applies to tho shipment of mixed grades; it is much bettor to bhip fancy grndos by themselves and choice grades by themselves. Choice "apples find their best market in middlo western nnd southwestern territory, and should not go to tho cast, whore thoy nro not wanted, nnd whoro they must 1p sold at a lower price. Wo earnestly rqqucst those to whom this bulletin goes to con sider nil those questions carefully nnd to help perfect tho locnl organ ization niul put it on a business basis whore it will be in position to insure delvory of tho fruit on board tho Jars in tho shnpo which will en able Us tcf 6611 it to tho very highest advantage. The general markot continues ac tive, but somowhat irregular. Tho demand for Spitzenbergs and very high-priced vnriotics is unsatisfac tory. Tho general idea of tho class of the trado which appreciates ond can hnndlo Spitzenborgs to advan tage is that tho price is already so high that thero is no speculative margin. This fruit is usually bought for cold sforngo, and operators nro nervous nbout putting much of this high-priced fruit away, and it is therefore difficult to get them inter ested nt tho prices we are asking. On tho" other hand, the demand in medium nnd low-priced varieties is bri'k. Such varieties ns Black Bons, Gnnos. Romo Benuties, at present valuations, nro wanted. Jonathans continue to bo neglected and prices must be shaded in order to dispose of them, as tho storngo demand i supplied nnd tho spot demnnd slug rish. Shall Women Vote? If they did, millions would vote Pr. King's New Life Pills tho true remedy for women. For bnnshing dull, tagged feelings, bncknche or headache, constipation, dispelling colds, imparting appetite and toning up tlo system, they're unequaled. Easy, safe, sure. 25c at Clms. "The league will hold its annual neeting this yenv in Ghicngo and not in New York, ns it did Inst year." Funs who heard Johnson's remark wore quietly amused, remembering Ills similar statements Inst year, not Withstanding which tiie annual meet ing was held in Gotham.
