MHDEQRD MAIL WSBSOSB, MEDFOap.; OREGON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1910. ...... ' ' ' ' ' - - ,.,..-,., ' -- mi ; . i , t . i, i , .j-.i i ... ,. : m , , , l ' Butte Falls Items Quito a number o huntiuR parties faavo passed through tho Falls of lato Ko'inp to tho Blue canyon dii? trict in search of deer and bear. Birds nro said to bo quito numerous. Mr. and Mrs. Thomassou, who havo been visltinR friends in tho val ley, havo turned to their homo. Several parties from Central Point c&me in on tho stajje Wednesday, but wo did not Rot their names or learn their business. Mr. Downs of Iow creek sec tion was in Butto Falls lately and ho reports his mother as being sick, but not danporously or seriously so. He says tho fire got into his timber and camp near burning his home, but it was saved with the aid of others. His timber was damaged, but not t3 very great extent. Uncle Ben Edmonson has been iauling his winter supply of hay from tho Tom Grigsby ranch. The Cook boys took several loads of yew posts to Eagle Point to fill an order. These posts command a Taorlr cnln na Jlinv nro vorv ilnr- able. Butto Falls will probably poll a very light voto at tho primary, ns registration has been light. Tho in surgents appear to bo in tho major ity, and it is hoped that Oregon will snow under all thoso candidates op posed to tho primary and Statement No. 1, and that tho people will not be shorn of their power, but that the machine will becomo a tiling of tho past. I do not sec how we can havo a more representative government than when tho people, by their votes, declare and say whom they desire to bo elected, and any set of men who scok to throttle tho voice ot the peo plo or to curtain their privileges in election matters Naro tho men to be elevated to positions ot trust or honor. This precinct is strong for Von der Helleu and West, and we expect them to carry it by flatter ing majorities. Miss Peeler is quite likely to teach tho Prospect school this winter, and if so, her family will remove from Butte Falls to Prospect, so that they may be near to her. Southern Dairy Co. Central Point Items At last the contractor has com pleted his Job and tho city council has accoptcd tho water system In full. Tho much expected row at the final wlndup did not occur. Two ot tho councilmen, however, refused to Tote either tor or against tho nccep tanco of the system, and In that case tho mayor adopted "Heed rules" and all went well. Thero is much interest being mani fested at tho big tent meetings now In progress 1 . Oak Park addition. Lumber is being placed on the ground for three new cottages and yet there mo not houses enough to supply tho demand. House rent is rapidly advancing, which, of course, will be tho direct cause of many who are now renters to build their own homes. Sam Plckard ot Albuquerque, X. 21., arrived Saturday and is visiting with his sisters and brother of Scenic Heights orchard, a short distance from Central Point I. J. McVey of Hoqulam, Wash., was in the city Sunday on aNsight seelng tour. Mr. McVey Is a business man of Hoqulam, being the proprietor of the Yellowstone hotel. Central Point needs more school room and more teachers. The con gested condition of the schools is not conducive to tho best results, and this condition must be overcome. The demand for fruit pickers in this part of tho valley greatly ex ceeds the supply. There is not an idle man in all Central Point and not likely to beo no for some time to come. 3IILK ROUTE IN CONNECTION Store Phone Main 881. Ranch Phone Farmers 7183.
