Brix, owner of the Grays Bay Log ging company, bns purchased the Coulmbin mill at Knappton, built many years ago by the Simpson Lum ber company. While the considera tion has not been made public it is believed to havo been in the neighbor hood of $100,000. Tho mill will be operated continu ously bv its new owner, about 50,000 feet of timber being cut daily. Brix is one of the largest produc ers of logs in the Columbia river dis trict and owns thousands of acres of the finest timber in the world. He is now interested with a San Fran cisco firm that operates steam choonors and has lumber yards in Hint and other California cities. "When a man comes along with the ability to command the capital to in augurate big enterprises, I believe in giving him all the reasonable con cessions possible," is another's opin ion.
