Bernice Y. Cleaver of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on Feb. 21, 1929, in Riverton, Wyoming, to par- ents John and Alberta Mills Bowen. She died on April 1, 2017, in Hermiston, Ore- gon, at the age of 88 years. She was raised and attended schools in Nyssa, Oregon, graduating in the Cleaver class of 1948. Ber- nice was united in mar- riage to LaVern Cleaver on June 20, 1948. They lived in Nyssa, Oregon, and she was a full-time mom, staying home to raise their children until they were out of school. They moved to Burns, Oregon, for a few years and then to Weiser, Idaho. Bernice worked in the office of Feltham Growers Onion Shed until she re- tired. They moved to Herm- iston, Oregon, in 1995 to be close to their family. Ber- nice was a member of the Elks Lodge in Ontario and the Eagles Lodge in Nys- sa and later both the Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge in Hermiston, Oregon. She was also a member of the Camper Club where they enjoyed traveling in the motor home. Bernice en- joyed fishing, sewing, quilt- ing, needlework, playing cards and dancing. She is survived by her sons Alan Cleaver and wife Bonnie of Hermis- ton, Wesley Cleaver and wife Debbie of Hermiston, Kevin Cleaver and wife Georgia of Umatil- la, and Kim Cleaver and wife Diana of Fruit- land, Idaho; daughter Karry Fallin and husband Doug of Prineville, Oregon; broth- ers Jack Bowen of Pendle- ton, and Bill Bowen of St. Maries, Idaho; 12 grand- children; 19 great-grand- children; and several nieces and nephews. Bieren of Ken- newick, Washington, and formerly of Hermiston, was born on Sept. 30, 1952, in El- lensburg, Washington, to par- ents John Austin Bie- ren and Dena Louise Phare Bieren. He died on March 31, 2017, near Troy, Oregon, as the result of an ATV accident at the age of 64. Brent was raised Bieren and attended schools in Ellensburg, Washington, graduating in the class of 1970. He lived in Elgin, Or- egon, until moving to Uma- tilla in 1974 where Brent and his father John started Desert Drywall. Brent and his fam- ily resided throughout the western United States until returning to Hermiston and the Tri-Cities. Brent contin- ued Desert Drywall and for the last several years has also worked as a general contrac- tor, building many homes throughout the area. Brent was united in mar- riage to Pam Wilson on Feb. 7, 1980, in Hermiston. They had three children, Dena, Nick and Andrea. They also have six grandchildren: Brooke, Mitchel, Brentin, Keegan, Alena and Kason. He was a mentor and role model to many, donating his time and heart to people in need, always looking for the bright side and bringing out the best in others. Brent was a believer in building people up and spreading the opti- mism he always had. He was respected and loved by ev- eryone who knew him and in the communities in which he lived and worked. Brent was a compassionate business man who truly felt his employees were a part of his family, and he will be missed by all. He enjoyed camping, fishing, flying, working in the yard, playing poker, was an avid reader and spent his time helping others. Brent was a devoted husband, Dad, Grand- pa, brother, and uncle who cherished time he had with his family. In typical Brent fashion, when he left a room he would pass the re- mote and say, “You have the con.” He is survived by his wife, Pam Bieren; mom, Barba- ra Bieren; daughter, Dena Delee Bird and husband Jace; son, Nicholas Brent Bieren; daughter, Andrea Lorraine Creed and husband Miles; sisters Brenda Schlepp and her husband Michael of Ida- ho, Jill Holt and her husband Rick, Washington, and Patty Estes and her husband Rich, Oregon; brother John Bieren and his wife Amber, Oregon; grandchildren Brooke, Mitch- el, Brentin, Keegan, Alena and Kason; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
