ROADMASTER YEON S STATEMENT. “ I want to speak of the paving contract« to be let,’’ said Mr. Yeon, “ in answ er to the reports that have been put afloat. Bids will be received from all tirst-elass paving concerns, ac- cording to open specifications, and no favors will be shown. The statement that it is now decided what kind of pavement will he put down is absolutely untrue anil without foundation. All that we shall insist on is that the pavements shall he first- class and that it shall have a guaranty good in law, that the pavement will be kept in repair for 10 years, which means that (or that period these hard-surface roads will not cost the ta x payers one cent, and we can devote our money and time in other road construction. Don't he deceived by the reports that have been put afloat in this county for no other purpose than to heat the bond issue. And let every man and woman voter consider himself and herself a committee of one to help carry this bond issue and enable us to get good roads and complete the Columbia Highway, the finest scenic road in the w orld.” TU ESD A Y S AND F R ID A Y S PER YEAR COUNCIL CREATES VACANCY Two reso lu tio n s, one declaring the office of city atto rn ey vacant, th e o th e r en d o rsin g th e proposed road bond Issue, w ere adopted by the city council a t th e re g u la r m eeting on T uesday evening.
