THE SCIO TRIBUNE * independent, fearless, free; Not tied to any party; Vi ill support best candidate for office regardless of party VOL. XXIII » 11.50 THE YEAR NO. 3. MARION LAKE IS STRANGELY AGITATED Water, Usually Clear, Now Murky and Bubble« Constantly Are Coming to tbe Svdacc Albany. Or.. Sept. I. There has been some disturbance in the bot tom of Marion lake, near the sum mit of the Cascade mountains, about 20 miles southeast of Detroit, say forest rangers stationed in that vi cinity and local people who have vis ited the lake recently. The water, which usually is dear, now ia murky. At times it is so roiled, according to reports, that the Marion fork of the Santiam river, which flow» from the lake, i» murky, too. Much of the time bub- bles come to the surface, which con- dition, like the murkiness of th«- water, has never been noticed be fore. Fish in the lake will not bite for days at a time, and formerl» this has been a xplended tishinx place. At Marion lake no dead fish were seen on the surface of the water as was the case at Diamond lake in southern Oregon, where, apjurrently a volcanic disturl*anee has occurred at the bottom of the lake, as men tioned in recent pr«»wr reports. Marion lake ia about a mile in di ameter and of somewhat circular outline. It is a very deep lake and is a favorite fishing an«l outing re sort.
