Capt. Harris has employed William Blackmore, a graduate of the Washington Agricultural college and an expert cheesemaker, who is turning out aboutioo pounds a day. Paint er, aged -3 years, of consumption. Deceased was the daughter of William and Malviua New-laud, and was born iu Lake county, Or, March 37, 1878. The lather died about the time of her birth and her mother biuught her family to Coos county about 3 years later, and they lived 011 Middle creek near the Coos Hay wagon road for several years, re- maviiig to Mnishfield iu 1895. Last bummer Miss Ncwlnud suffered a severe attack of the grip, which developed into con sumption. Ou Jan. 30, 1901, she was married to S. A. Painter aud has since resided at North Uend' but her wedded life was destined to be of short duration. as her disease made rapid ptogicss, atul for several mouths her case has been seen to be hopeless. Hctides the bereaved husband and mother, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. If. S. Houcbrake of this city and Mrs. J. W. Moss, of Fair view. The funeral took place ou Tuciday from the Methodist church iu this city, Rev. R. C. I.ec. officiating. .1.
