As Georgo Proebstel, Jr., has decided to remain at Golville. Wash., it is probable his family will soon remove there, news tbe oommuuity will legret to learn. William H. Eighty thousand vehioles in Chicago will become liable to pay wheel tax just as soon as Governor Deneen signs tbe wheel tax law passed by tbe general assembly at Springfield. Tbe governor has indicated that he will sign tbe bill at onoe. Under tbe operation of the aot tbe tax will amount to $500,000 eaob year. All of tbe money thus raised is re quired to be expended on the repairs of tbe streets. Tbe tax applies to every vehicle on wheels that uses tbe city streets. Automobiles, wagons, drays, truoks, buggies, bicycles, and all of tbe wheel family, with tbe exoeption of baby carriages, will come in for a share of the payment. Tbe tax is graduated aooording to tbe class of vehicles. Automobiles pay tbe largest tax, and the other vehioles will hail along in tbe assessment aooording to their value and kind. That's It! 1 ! W. T. Shaw, president of the Milton, Freewater & Hudson Bay Irrigation company, was in Milton Monday on business oonneoted with his com pany, says the Eagle. Mr. Shaw is an enthnsiastio irrigator, and states that bis company has made a splendid success of its project and is commencing a new lateral to the main ditoh whiob will oonvert 800 acres of sagebrush land into One frnit and gar' den land. Mr. Shaw is tbe father of winter irrigation, that is, using tbe flood waters of winter aud spring to saturate the ground, wbioh will then with proper cultivation produce tine crops without any furtber moisture.
