FRIDAY, DEC. 18 Winter Whiteout ‘Fun-Raiser’ 5:30-7:30 p.m., Canyon City Community Hall All ages are invited to the event, hosted by the Cre- ative Life Project. Activities include black-light mural painting, T-shirt and ornament painting, music, lights, dancing, games, prizes and refreshments. There will be a drawing for a cord of wood and a gift basket with art supplies, donated gifts, treats, lights and surprises. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5, and are available at Sue-Z-Q’s or from the group’s Facebook page. Funds raised will support future Creative Life Project youth activities. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cem- etery in Canyon City. A reception will follow at the SnafÀ e Bit Dinner House in John Day. Larman is the son of Dodie Melland of Emmett, Idaho, and Dave Larman of Summerville. His grand- parents are Jessie Lewis of Canyon City and the late Gerald Lewis. His brother is also in the Marines, Lance Cpl. Bridger Larman. myeaglenews.com/breakingnews 340 N Broadway Arthur ‘AJ’ Dickens June 6, 2002 – Dec. 10, 2015 Arthur “AJ” Wayne Dickens IV, 13, of Mt. Vernon, died Dec. 10 at Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the Mt. Vernon Community Hall. A private interment will follow the service. AJ, and his twin sister, Erika, were born on June 6, 2002, in Bend, to Ar- thur “Art” Wayne Dickens III and Jan- ice Lynn Dickens. He attended seventh grade at Grant Union Junior-Senior High School in John Day. He was an avid video gamer, Lego builder and was an ex- cellent ¿ sherman, catching many trophy ¿ sh. He was granted a Make-A-Wish trip to San Diego where he visited Sea World and LegoLand. He was also able to accompany his family on a trip to England. He attended MDA camp every year in McCall, Idaho, and was a very active 4-H member. Survivors include his parents Art and Janice Dickens of Mt. Vernon; sisters, Erika Dickens and Megan (Ty) Workman of Bates; two nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his brother, Taner Gilliam.
