Pacific Live Stock Co. It believe! that any big landowning corpor ation is a detriment to the devel opment of the real resources of I the country. Yet it is not in sympathy with such llimsy ex cuses of the railroad people as to the cause of delay in putting the road into so rich a territory a I they know Harney Valley to lie. The P. L. S. Co. doesn'l own but a small portion of the tillable land and no one knows better than the railroad people them selves that the quickest way of disposing of this big corporation is to put the railroad in and e,et the country surrounding the; company holdings settled up. I The asseition of the company attorney that the land has not i paid at the low purchase pi ice! and Mr. Nickle's story that they did not want to dispose of it don't fit in well. As a matter of fact the land has paid in the past but as soon as the range is gone and the country settled up it will not pay under the condi tions now used and the company will either have to dispose of it or put it to a more beneficial use. Another matter too that bears upon the situation is that other big holdings were acquired in the same manner as that of the P. L. S. Co. and the same question as to title exists. The case in stituted by the state could be brought against the French Glenn holdings and since the matter has been brought into court the title should be settled for the benefit of future pur chasers. The manager isn't very "flush" therefore would not like to be compelled to dig up should he A letter was received this week from Miss Geneva Lockes stat ing she would be here with her company of players for the week of April lif. Morrison, the general sales agent of the Oregon & Western Colonization Co., arrived in this section with a partv of ten pros pective investors. He was ac companied by Frank Johnson, the local representative. Mr. Johnson informs The Times-Herald that some of the people who invested last fall have arrived bare to remain and be gin active farm work. Among them are (i. A. He has 460 acres in the Crow Camp section and will get right to work. T. H. Morgan, who purchased a half section last fall will crop Hit) acres this spring and A. Meyers of Stillwater, Oklahoma, the same place Mr. Morgan hails from, has just closed with the Company for 100 acres and he and his two sons will farm 100 acres of it this season as well as a considerable amount of the Morgan place.
