Frank Triske received a tele gram announcing the death ol his father on July 4 at the family home in Wisconsin. Deceased had not been ill any length of time as Mr. Triske had received a letter the same day the tele gram reached him from his father who wrote of a fishing trip he had been on and no intimation in the letter that he was not in the best of health. f Mesdames Pearl Fisk and Vera Welker have purchased the ice cream parlors and confectionery store formerly conducted by Miss Mamie Winters, who has assum ed her duties as post mistress. The new owners are having the rooms occupied remodled and ar ranged more conveniently for the business and as soon as the workman have completed the improvement! will have a very attractive place. VanderVeer was in town this week with a fine lot of Straw berries grown on his Pine Creek ranch. He found a ready market for them in Burns and will likely bring over more in the immediate future. Mrs. Geo. Hatt left on the auto yesterday morning en route to Seattle in response to a tele gram that her mother was seri ously ill. She was brought over from her home near Princeton by James Malum in his auto. Mrs. Henry Dalton and little sons have returned from Vale where they spent a few weeks visiting relatives. They had a very pleasant visit and feel quite rested from their journey. They were brought in by Marion Hor ton in his auto. The Times-Herald is informed that Harold Handcock was shot and killed at Plush on the morn ing of the 4th by a man named Highfield. The victim was shoot four times. Deceased was for merly a resident of this place and was quite well known to several of our people. We have not received any particulars. The Times-Herald office has been instrumental in assisting to equip the printing office for the i paper at Juntura which P. J. I Gallagher and A. M. Byrd are 1 going to start. A nice series of display type, iwper cutter, rules, etc, was taken from this office and the boys will start otf with a very complete equipment for a small plant. Curtis Smith and his mother, Mrs. C. G. Smith, arrived home Thursday evening by way of Bend from a vacation trip to out side points. Curtis and wife spent a month visiting in Port land and Willamette Valley points while Mrs. Smith Sr. visited her old home in California. Mrs. Smith Jr. came by way of Canyon and will remain there for a few weens visiting ner rainer, V. G. Cozad, and other relatives. Mrs. Horton and the children went out with them and li.ive gone to North Powder to visit with relatives for a few weeks. After haying Mr. Horton will join them and they expect to go to Boise where they will spend the winter as their little girl desires a longer term of school year than afforded at home. Mr. Brown disposed of his wool while out at the road, receiving 14 cents. Tonawama management hopes to make a regulae thing of the one act sketches and comedies, or vaudeville jierrormances in connection with the Saturday night picture programs from this time on. Tonight there will be three reels of pictures and at the close of the first show "Two Jolly Girl Bachelora," will be put on by two young ladles of the Tonawama Stock Co. These "stunts" will be distributed around among the members of the company so that no one play er will be on too often and the "stunts" will be of a character to please Tonawama patrons. There will be the usu al picture show together with a one act playlet entitled Two Jolly Bachelor Girls" at Tona wama tonight, so don't be de ceived if we do not get that sign up and you see no light at the entrance, lor there is going to be a good show and it will be fol lowed by a social dance for which Mrs. Murray will play. If the crowd is not up to expectations "Hutch's" team will be sued for damages for knocking that sign down. DISSOLUTION NOTICE.
