These people, who are the best tiie college anoras, are coming here to work for th those who are fortunate enough to be able to attend this short course. The course is free to the people of Harney county, in every way, and there will no charges for entrance. The sessions are to be held in Tonawama as it has been found the attendance will be larger than any one room in the high school building will accommodate. ing to be a large attendance it is being given as wide publicity as possible and more arc invited. The people of Burns are taking an active interest in the short course and will open their homes to those who come in for that puriiose, and together with the capacity of the hotels of this place people are assured of being proerly housed nnd taken care of. In addition to this Bill llnnley has wired from Portland that the "Bell A" ranch will be prepared to take care of 50 "short coursers" free of charge. The ladies should remember the domestic science course is for their particular benefit and they are expected to take advan tage of it and be out in numbers. This being the first short course ever given in Oregon away from the agricultural college it should be given every attention by the people of this section who reap the benefit It is going to result in vast good to the people who take advantage of it Mr. Breithaupt left yesterday for a tour of the Waverly, Harri man, Lawen, Narrows and Sun set districts to call the attention of the farmers to the importance PREDICTS STRENUOUS SEASON IN REAL ESTATE President Davidson of the Ore gon A Western Colonisation Co. Mr. Bailey has boon here before and his company pur chased an addition to Burns on the west which has all been dis posed of. The Times-Herald has said as much in the past and sees no reason to change its opinion. A visit to irrigation projects in Idaho a few years ago convinced the writer that private enterprise was of much greater importance and gets iuicker results than the government projects. Mr. Davidson expects to make fre quent trips here during this spring as they have many pros pective buyers for the lands in this valley. Inasmuch as we are expected to compete with large Eastern Houses, who sell for cash only, we are obliged to stick pretty close to the cash system, for in no other way can prices of houses who see your money before they wrap up the goods, be met on equal terms. The company would equip a farm here to be under the care of this well known expert were it possible for him to make frequent trips in to look after it, but this section will have to await transiortntion lines. Mr. Davidson expects great activity in this section as soon as spring opens m the way of real estate transfers. There is a gen eral movement toward this sec tion and the spring will witness a large Influx of people. His company is now investigating the proposition of possible transpor tation in on the Oregon & East ern now building west from Vale. to ascertain how far trains will be run during the next few months.
