Hobbs, who has been here for several weeks painting, was taken into custody the first of the week on advice from an Idaho officer;. He is charged with forgrey. W. H. Johnson was over from Silver creek this week accompa nied by his brother, A. J. John son who resides at Cedarville, California. The latter was for merly a resident of Eastern Ore-. gon and is here on a visit after an absence of nine years. Mrs. McHose announces that she will continue her teaching thru the summer months and offers a term in Voice, Piano or Sight Singing to those who would like to study. If a sufficient number are interested sho will hold classes in sight singing for children from ten to scventcen boys and girls- at reasonable rates. This is an opportunity that should be taken advantage of by every child that can sing since it is a branch that has not yet been put into our public schools. Mrs. McHose will be in her studio at her home Tuesday and Friday of each week and will be glad to give any further information there. 28-2'J f-. Miss Collins has given excellent satisfaction as primary teacher hero and has been re elected for the coming year. A social dance will bo given at Tonawama next Wednesday eve. May 29th, by tho orchestra. The next day being Decoration they planned it would bo a good night to give a dancing party as Thursday will bo a holiday for many. Mrs. Embree, mother of Clyde and 'Van, took her departure Wednesday for Dallas by way of Rend. Sho has been with tho boys here for about a year and now return to her former homo to remain for a time. Sho was accompanied by her little grand son. Mrs. W. W. Jordan left the first of this week for Washington where tho fnmily formerly lived. Sho had tho body of her boh, who died hero soyernl ago, ex humed and taken to tho old homo for final burial. Sho no companicd tho body out on the trucks. Mr. Jordan remained here. J. F. Mahon returned Thurs day evening from Mt. Vernon Springs where ho had taken a friend for treatment. Jim said lie looked into the political situa tion over in Grant and fools well encouraged as to his candi dacy for stato senator from this district Dell Dibble, tho popular and congenial landlord of tho Rurns hotel is having a splendid run of business of lato. If tho rush continues ho will soon have to enlarge the door way and keep two registers. Deceased was a freight er for several years and quite well known in this section. He was an uncle to Mrs. R. A. Miller and Grant Reynolds.
