Part-breed coyoto doga lmvo long boon in uso nnioiiR ranchers and others in isolated locations as watch animals, but it is be lieved that Charles Lubcck of Elk City is tho first rancher to ho able to covert full-blooded coy otes to any uso about a farm. Mr. Lubeck calls his coyotes Brig and Harrison, and brought them with him to Boiso yester day whon ho camo with a score of coyoto pelts. "Brig and Harrison caught these, all of them," said Lubeck yesterday. "I never have to kill a single coyoto with a gun, for these animals arc always capable of doing tho work and of keep ing their brothers out of tho country about tho ranch. "I caught two coyotes 25 years ago, and since that time thoro have boon five generations, until tho result has been that I have been able to develop what might nearly be called domestic coyotes. While I cannot allow these ani mals to sleep in the house. I have a special place for them, and they run at largo with the dogs. They can put up a better fight than any dog I own, and they are absolutely sure as watch animals. They do not bark, and their howlings are only occasion al. When thoy are about the houso at night I have little trou ble with them, though of course I never let them got in. "With tho first two or three generations of tho animals I had some difficulty in keeping them about the place. The first pair I caught were never allowed to run wild. I had to keep them penned up all the time. The second generation of the animals I let run at times and often they would leave tho ranch and not return for several days. But I gradually trained them year after year, until thoy were as easy to teach as dogs and far better for many purposes. "Every generation of tho ani mals becomes more valuable than their parents have been before them, and within the next ton years I hope to have a pair of coyotes which will be good to keep in the house. "There is one point which a person raising coyotes must never lose sight of, and that is the fact that the wild streaks will show themselves when they are least expected, and the ani mals will often snap even those with whom they arc on the most friendly terms. "These coyotes are a year old, and they have not bitten anyone yet" Lubeck has the animals chain--cd while in the city. S.tatesman. APPOINTMENT OP EXECUTOR.
