The Lane County Agricultural and Industrial Fair has been on at Euarcne. with fino weather and a lnrtro number of excellent and attractively arranged exhibits. How in tho world would tho busy farmer know what his equally busy neighbors were doing in tho lino of raising stock, wheat, poultry, vegetables, grain, hay and hops; in dairying, fruit-can-insr and nrune-drying, if he and they did not stop long enough at the end of tho harvest season to como together and compare notes? And how would he and they profit by the experience of each other but for these meetings and the comparison of the results of their endeavor? The ncrricultultural fair is not a new institution in this state, by any means. It is, in fact, nearly nr nuito half a century old. But it is one of those institions tho value of which is not impaired but is rather enhanced by years Civic nride and pride in vocation are encouraged by these harvest fairs and festivals. September and October are the months in which they most abound. It is a lean week, indeed, in cither of these months that is without its county fair. Orcgonian. NEWELL-RODER.
