This will consist of old war songs, negro melodies of that time, etc and should bo a most interesting and entertain ing affair. -NOTES PROM THE LAKE. The sudden freshet in Silvies river has placed tho bridge on I lu Ijiwon-Nnrrows road in a bad condition. Tho ico caused tho center of tho bridge to raise up and almost draw tho sleepers off. Tho culvert a fow rods east ienceto travel. In fact peoplo have to make their way through nlace in water 4 to 5 feet deep Tho road is unfortunately situat ed in the first place. It is built north of a Inch ridcro which is on deeded land and the owners tako advantage of this ridge to hold the water by means of dams, thus backing it up as high as tho grade will permit. This is causing the grade to wash. The writer believes wo should have more road masters so our high ways could rcciove particular at tention during such seasons ns what work has been done would be safeguarded and obstructions looked after. The time is hero when Harney county should have permanent bridges and roads In 21 years your correspondent has never seen tho feed grounds around this portion of tho lako keep so hard and m fino condi tion oven after tho stock has been turned out. Snow covered tho grounds during the entire feeding period. water ducks and treeso nro quite plentiful, but tho swan nro moro numerous great flocks. Wo havo read tho request of Game Warden Hibbard as to requirements of Sec. 39. Will Mr. Hibbard kindly enlighten in tho matter of how many hunters and tranners from other states aro within tho meander lines of Malheur lako without a licenso or even ono of his permits. Ho will find somofrom another stato on what would bo section 0, township 20, range 32i if ho will take tho troublo to go thero. Coons aro about extinct very fow being caught this winter. Mr. Blnckwell will havo to got around soon after tho steers ho purchased in this section as tho water is gotting so high all stock will havo lo bo turned out in a fow days. Tho loss of stock in this locali ty will bo extremely light. No loss whatever in young stock up to this date. Some havo lost 2 nercent one man 10 percent- others only about l of 1 porcent. This is about tho finest feeding locality in tho county and I von rn-n in ontr tlinf .Q nnrfonf will nnvn fl,n fnrnl lnoq nnrl tliosn kUiW fc. Our neighbors, tho Lawoniles, aro practically over their siego of smallpox. Mrs. Potior is re covering rapidly and no now cases developed. Thero nro many would bo pur chasers and loasors of gas and oil land wading sloughs hero these days. Pcoplo who havo power, heat anil light on uieir ranches think twice before sell ing. From present Indications moro than two-thirds of the deeded land in this vicinity will change owners this year if present own ers don't get too wild in their demand for prices. Wkhkoot II0ISB & WESTERN RWIIT OF WAY. Tho filing for record of tho right of way over tho W. V. & C. M. W. R. Co. lands of the Boiso & Western shows that with a fow oxcoptions that rail road has secured its right of way throughout tho Malheur Canyon. Thero aro a fow places where tho right has not been secured but theso will bo adjusted some by condemnation proceedings. Interesting developments may bo expected in tho railroad build ing lino within a short time. Persistent rumors of tho award ing of contracts for grading west from Vale continue, but no authority for them. Notice I'nr Hid.
