All the horses known to. havo been stolen recently on Silver Creek have been recovered, but the men nccused of the theft have not been caught. The nni mals belonging to W. C. Cecil woro found on tho range but the stock belonging to W. L. Best had been disposed of to Wm. Welch at Izee, It seems two strangers sold Mr. Welch nine head of horses for $400, but eight head belonged to Mr. Best. It is reported the men went to Canyon City thenco out to tho railroad, claiming they had to be in Pendleton nt once. a npu church. Tho writer paid a visit to the local Catholic church one day this week and found a wonderful transformation. Instead of the rough stono walls greeting one upon entrance, it shows a nicely plastered and ornamented wall together with appropriate hang ings. The walls have been nice ly tinted and tho color scheme is quite harmonious. Rev. M. Kline has been working very hard to accomplish this, since he came hero und now has the third nicest church in this diocese, one at Baker City and another at Tho Dalles being larger and better finished.
