It was decided to turn the entire matter over tothe committee formerly appointed to draw up a new contract between the city and company, L D Wiest requested that action be taken to suppress certain disor derly houses he alleged were in ex istence in the city. No action was taken in the matter. It appeared to be the opinion of the council that it was the duty of individuals with evidence to secure warrants them selves, the council itself not being able to act in the matter. What with the spund of the blasting in this work and tbe railroad construc tion a taste of Fourth of July noise already is supplied. Three crews pf men are engaged in erecting poles for the lighting system, and Taxpayers to Debate Bond Issue. A meeting of the taxpayers of this school district has been called by tbe School Board on the after noon of July 5th, at 2 p. m., to be held in the school house The pur pose of tbe meeting is to debate an $18,000 bond issue for a new high school building, preliminary to putting such a proposition to a vote. The first kiln of machine-made brick at the brickyard was com pleted yesterday, qpnsisting of 115,000 brick, The proprietors nave incorporated under tbe title of the Bend Brick & Tile Co About the middle of next week another kiln of 120,000 brick will be ready for burning. Building for Steam Laundry. II. J. Overturf will erect at once a building to be occupied by the Ilend Steam Laundry. Mr. and Mm.
