The old transformer had only a 25-light capacity, while 29 arc lights are in use in Dallas. Chipman & Farmer of Corvallis. have bought the Dallas Hotel, and expect to see their friends from crood old Benton. (Their friends are expected to pay in advance.) Corvallis Times. There will be no meetinc of Naomi Chapter, O. E. S., on December 24, but a special meeting will be held on January 1, at 8 o'clock for installation of officers. Ail members and their families are invited to be present. Margaret V. Hayteb. W. M. Dallas College will meet the basket ball team from Willamette on the home court Saturday night. This will be the second same scheduled in the Ore gon League, and will no doubt be fast and interesting, as Willamette is reported to have a strong team this season. A preliminary will be arranged between the College second team and a team selected from the town. The recent re-survey of the city brings the lineof A. J. Barham's prop erty northward until his row of shade trees will be thrown directly in the center of the sidewalk. These trees are fine eastern birch and are very beautiful, so Mr. Barham will endeavor to transplant to a place well within the boundaries of his property rather than permit them to be cut down to make way for the impending street improvements. In the try out Tuesday night between the winners of the two skating races of last week, George Morton defeated Arthur Phelps in an exciting contest, and won the five dollar pair of skates offered by Kerslake & White to the winner, ueorge JJrowD. the floor man ager, has challenged Morton to a race thisevenlnsr, and Morton has accented the challenge. Both are fast and skill ful skaters, and the contest tonight promies to be a very close and excit ing event. MUST DRAW NEW JURY Judge Burnett Has Called Term of Circuit Court for Monday, January 20. Circuit Judge" Galloway will hold a court session in Dallas on January 6, and Judge Burnett will hold another on January 20. A new jury list will be drawn January 2 for department one. lhlslsmade necessary on account of the failure tf the circuit court to convene in regular session during the present month. The summons sent out a short time ago brought all the jurors to the county seat, and upon failure of the court to hold its session they were thereby released from their obligation, since a man may not be legally summoned to serve on a jury more than one time in a year. .MILL WILL RESUME WORK Dallas Lumber Company's Biz Plant to Begin Operations Early In the New Year. Roy Waasom, of the Dallas Lumber Company, reports that preparations are being made to resume operations in its big sawmill sometime between the first of January and the first of February, but that the exact time has not yet been deflnitly decided upon by the company.
