Talis City notes Gilbert Tysou ha3 been home from Albany for the past few days. The members of the Christian church will place a furnace in their building. The debating society had a good attendance at their meeting last Tues day evening. Mrs. C. W. Calloway left laot Tues. day for Echo, where Mr. Calloway is teaching school. Mrs. Stet Cook gave a party to a number of friends last Saturday eve ning. All report a very enjoyable time. Kx-County Judge W. L. Wells p;is-M.'d through here Saturday on his way to l'ortland from his claim in the Rock Creek country. Miss Bessie Milino received word last Tuesday of the death of her father who ha3 been under medical treatment iu Portlaud for several months. At the Christian church next Sun day morning the subject will be "A Poor Location;" in the evening we will hear about "A Great Spell." i Miss Mary Quick, who has been em ployed to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Miss Campbell, is giving excellent satisfaction and is well liked by all. Herbert March celebrated his 40th birthday Saturday evening. Several friends and neighbors came in and spent the evening in social games. Ihose present were: Mr. and Mrs. J. K. TURKEY'S RUQ EXHIBIT Sultan's Kingdom Will be seated at Lewis and Clark by $600,000 Display. Repre. Fair The display which Turkey will make at the Lewis and Clark Cen tennial will be worth $COO,noo, but will occupy only 800 square feet of floor space. The exhibit will consist to a large extent of rugs, many of them of fabulous value. One of the rugs ia valued at $35,000, and its owner has been offered $30,000 for it. Thirty years were spent in making the rug and the Sultan's palace cannot show its equal. There will be many other rugs worth from $5,000 to $10,000. Cashmere shawls will form another attractive exhibit, and there will also be displayed wonderful, delicate work in gold, silver and bronze ; an assort ment of beautiful carved beads and some embroidered silks of groat value. Turkish merchants and their wives, clad in their picturesque garbs, will have charge of the exhibit, and girls in wido bloomers will serve tea and Turkish confections to visitors. Itch Ringworm. K.
