The president ordered her taken to the main land and given her liberty and she will never forget this act of kindness. Such noble character niaks a great president of all the people. The City Council might take up the question of arc lights, now that the electric light plant has been so improved that they are able to fur nish them. The city has grown in such proportions that they would be quite valuable to the city and would certainly make make Main street on the Kast side and that part of the Vest side having business houses look considerably better to visitors to the city. Four or five good arc lights would cost a little more than the small lights now in use but they would also be of some value to those who have occasion to travel after night.
