In fact, I get a little sick every tim e the sea grows rough. Mr. Reed escaped, of course. He h a s never eaten enough to get sick over. Needless to say we were all up early and ready for our city in H on olulu. As I cam e on deck I was greeted by a w onderful sight. Our boat was ju st rounding Diamond Head. To th e right g reat m ountains of rock and green sh ru b s tow ered above the sea and were lost to view in th e w hite haze of the early m orn ing. As we entered th e h a rb o r all w ere delighted. It fa r surpassed our w ildest dream s of H onolulu. In the distance the m ountains rose a pale green ag ain st the blue sky, the foothills were a d a rk e r shade • and then cam e th e city alm ost hid-' den by the dense foliage while all i about us was the ever-changing wa te r in in num erable shades of blue a n d green. It rem inded one of a : W histler study. N othing was dis-i tinct, but everything was pleasing.; exquisite, rare, delighted, g rea ter th a n a n y th in g we had ever seen. W e w ere so proud to th in k it be-j longed to us and th rille d to see Old Glory flying from the launch th a t b rought th e inspectors out to the N iagara. It was most fun th row ing coins far out and w atching a half-dozen s ta rt for them . All one could see were tw elve brown legs disappearing in a seething w hirlpool of w ater. But up they would come, sh aking the w ater out of th e ir h a ir and pu ttin g the coins in th e ir m outh.
