The shoeg and slippers for the com ing season are bnt variations on the styles of last wiuter. The straight stand-up collar which barely misses meeting in front is called ''ultra correct." In many of the new dress materials the warp and the sleeves are again en tirely different materials. The suede walking glove is highly, dressy, but as four or five outings end its usefulness ita sale will be re stricted to capitalists. There is to be no startling depart ure during the coming season in the dressing of the hair. Auy way and every way will bo equally popular. The natty surtout with double breasted fronts, deep side pockets, and wide turn down collars and re vers, has appeared. A soft bow of mousseline chiffon below the chin is most becoming. They are sold at small prices to match any gowns, aud can bo pinned on in a moment. "With modern dresses the difficulty to keep them from all impurities of the pavement is greater than ever, for they are so narrow that it is al most impossible to hold them up at all. Pretty afternoon dresses of cash mere and camel's hair are made very effective by the use of velvet or heav ily repped ribbons, these being more favored for such decoration than moire or fancy ribbons of any sort. Many of the autumn gloves are elaborately embroidered on the back, and for present wear in the country a gauntlet glove has been brought out with elastic wrists. Washleather are extremely comfortable and econom ical. The empire gown will be worn again this winter and without any modifications. Its simplicity and the clinging effect of the long folds make it the gown of all others for the stat uesque, full-limbed beauty, bnt on the thin' woman the effect is disas trous. A desirablo change may be made in the plain school dresses so popular with yonng girls by having two waists, one of tho most promiuent color in the plaid with rolling collar and cuffs of black velvet, and the other of black cashmere with collar and cuffs of tlfe plaid. For a few years past steeple topped hats and high bonnets have had things all their own way in spite of the funny nows'paper mau and the singer of topical songs. Now we are to have a decided chauge. The very newest thing in hats is tho quintes sence of insignificance, It is fiat, round, and except for its little, rolling brim, resembles a saucer. Herculean Strength Continually on tho strain, or overtaxed nt in tervals, is far less desirablo than ordinary vigor perpetuated by rational diet and exer cise, and abstention from oxcoss. Profession al pugilists and athletes rarely attain ox treino old ago. As ordinary vigor may ho re tained by a wiso rogard for sanitary living, and for tho protection against disenso which timely and judicious medication affords, so also it may bo lost through prolonged seden tary labor, uninterrupted mental strain, and foolish catinir and drinking, tho chief and most immediate soquonco of all four being dyspepsia. For this condition thus, or in any way induced, and for its offspring, a failure of muscular and ncrvo power, liostottofs fatom ach Bitters is tho urimest and most conial of remedies Not only indigestion, but loss of flesh, appottte and sleep aro remedied by it. Incipient malaria and rheumatism aro ban ished, and kidnoy, bowel and liver complaint removed by it. Complaints have been made to gov ernor Pennoyer from parties residing on head waters both of the Yaquina and Alsea rivers, that this season salmon were prevented from ascend ing such rivers by the building of a dam without fishways, and by the stretching of nets across the entire rivers. Both proceedings are clearly misdemeanors under section 1,950 of the Oregon code, and the governor has referred the matter to the prose cuting attorney of the Second judi cial district, for official action, and at the same timo requested the parties writing to him to co-operate with such officers at the next term of the circuit court of Benton county for the punishment of the offenders. Exactly What is Sought After. A safe, reliable, harmless, not repul sive remedy that can be taken without changing tne regular diet or disorganiz ing the system; a vegetable compound assisting nature to get rid of impurities in a gradual manner as nature intended. Such is Simmons Liver Regulator, aud a trial proves this to the most skeptical. Complete satisfaction is guaranteed, and certainly it is a satisfaction to find the head clear, the bowels regular, the blood purified and the breath sweet.
