The Prince ton college expedition which was sent ont some time ago for the purpose of examining the fossil deposits in the mountains of Oregon has .returned, bringing much, information valuable to the scientific world. Their, inves tigations lay chiefly in the John Day lake region. Their report concludes with this outline of the extent of the discoveries made: "Gould we produce a .view of that ancient Oregon when John Day lake existed we should find ourselves in a very strange animal world. There were little three-toed horses hardly larger than donkeys, rhinoceri, cam els, peccaries, and a great assemblage of large and fierce cat-like, dog-like and hyena-like animals, not to men tion hosts of little rabbits and sqtfir-rel-like creatures. The animals of this time were all rather small, the largest being the ecteIo3ou a beast not unliko the hippopotamus in size and general appearance. As the list shows, this assemblage had a very oriental character. The climate was perhaps rather milder than the pres ent, and the forests, of which the leaf beds, on Bridge crek give ample illustration, were like those now found in the warmer paris of the United States. This wonderful museum of a buried " world has been sealed up by subsequent lava floods, and is now accessible only on the sides of canyons nnd valleys, where streams have cut down through the overlying masses. The result of our summer's work was nearly two tons of the fossil remains of these ani mals, n striking proof of the vast number of them which have been preserved." Horses, Cattle and Chickens. For colic and grubs," for lung fever, cough or hide-bound, J give Simmons Liver Regulator in a mash twice a day. You can recommend it to every one having slock as the best medicine known for the above complaints. In using it with my chickens, for cholera and gapes, I mix il with the dough and feed it to them once a day. By this treatment I have lost none where the Regulator was given promptly and regularly. E. T. Taylor, Agt. for Grangers of Ga. The oyster down in his bed of ooze, Wakes with a start from his summer snooze, Opened his shell, and said with a yawn: "I fear that our season of safety is gone. For ray pleasant dreams were disturbed by the jar That always is caused by tho letter R. And I know, by the keel of that hideous sloop . That some of ns shortly will be in the soup!''
