A long-range globe-sighted rifle iu the bands of a marksman can be made to rnu up a score of bullseyes down a firing range, but will it in the tinv ber do better work on deer than an old bored out musket loaded witb nino buckshot? The size of your bag of game depends n great deal on the knowledge of the firearms yon are used to. An estiraablo lady was re cently deeply interested in getting out the family washing. She had sheets and tablecloths out drying, when to tier horror, she saw the line go down and her clothiug trampled in the dirt. A largo buck, caught by tho antlers, was the cause of the trouble. There was not a man within five miles of her they had all gone to a neighbor's for the day. She screamed, and the deer, the more he plunged the tighter he got wound and the louder she yelled. Something had to be done, and done at once. She had a fine gun in the house, loaded, but she would not approach it as firearms were her special dread. Among her many possessions sbe bad a largo pair of tongs fire tongs that she had brought over with her. She thoroughly understood this fire arm, aud with all her housewifely in stincts outraged, grabbed them aud sailed in. She had her clothing slightly torn, but within five minutes they had venison; she literally ponuded the buck's skull to a jelly, after which she sat down and had a good cry. It all depends ou what yon are used to. BiicIilen'sArxuca. :ilv'. The Best Sai.vi: in the world foi Cuts, Bruises, Sores, Ulcers, Salt llheuiu, Fever Sores. Irate wife John, this is tho fourth time I'vo caught you in th9 kitchen talkiug to the cook. "Well, my dear?" "The next time I find you here, I'll well, I'll discharge her aud do the cooking myself." He has never offend ed since. DUTY TO YOUBSELF. It is surprising that people will use a common, ordinary pill when they can secure a valuable English one for the same money. Dr. Acker's English pills are a nosirjreeure for sick-headache and all liver troubles. "They are small, sweet, easly taken and do not gripe. .!. W. Conn, Druggist.
