Herbert Clairborne, Jr., ot New York, in a paper on tho care of. tho ears, published in medical classics, says: It has, perhaps, been the misfor tune of almost every boy to have had hi3 ears pulled and pinched by his playmates or oven by hia teachers. This also is a decidedly reprehensible and harmfal habit; boys should be corrected ot so doing; teachers should have better sense or stop teaching. Have you evor had your ear pulled by any one and did you ever hear it crack as it was jerked from its seat oa the bones? It so the position of your ear was permanently altered. And iust here another familiar means of punishment suggests itself as worthy ot the utmost condemnation a thing of which we shall speak ognin. Wo re fer to the boxing of the ears. Allow it to be said that tho stiffness ot the ear is given by cartilage; this is cov ered by the perichondrium, and ihis latter by the skin. Now, cartilage does not contain blood vessels of itself, and hence the circulation in the pinna is sluggish. Nevertheless, those blood vessels that surround the cartilage from the skin and perichon drium ore readily capable of rupture. A blow with the hand may easily cause the extravasion of a clot ot blood under the skin or perichon drium a blood tumor. If the pious or angry parent weara ring, this dan ger is increased. Experience shows that these tumors nro difficult (o heal, and that very frequently de formity of tho ear is the result; a portion of the ear may slough off, or a band of scar tissue may be formed that will distort the ear grievously. Let zealous parents remember this. Children Cry for Pitcher's Castoria When Baby was sick, wo cave her Castoria.
