Bub in i The PrMc Domain. The report of the general land office at Washington tells the story of the increasing demand for cheap land. During the year ending Juno 30, 1888, no less than 225, 112 entries of public land were made, embracing over 24,000.000 acres, an area exceeding the area of the state of Indiana, and nearly equal to that of Ohio or Kentucky. It is evident that this cannot go on long. The United States has nosuch land area left that it can sell a tract bigger than Indiana every year. The same story is told by the selection of 6,525,000 acres In land grant railroads, and by 24,- 472 timber culture entries. It seems startling to hear that now, when land is getting so scarce, the land grant railroads should be able to locate 6,500,000 especially as these companies are almost with out exception prosperous, and are able to sell for real money securi ties which represent the cost of the roads. The timber culture en tries will require close watching. The king of Denmark will cele brate the twenty-fifth year of his reign on the 15th of November next.
