An ordinance declaring Cedar street between West Sixth street and Salm on street, Shively's Astoria, to be a nuisance: Whereas, the planking, stringers and piles on Cedar street, between West Sixth street and Salmon street, are so worn and decayed, that said street is in a dangerous condition as a public high way, and Whereas, tho Common Council has twice given notice of their intention to improve said street, and Whereas, tho property owners abut ting on said street have, in both in stances remonstrated against, and de feated said improvement, and Whereas, the members of the Com mon Council do not feel that they should stand individually responsible for accidents liable to happen on said street in its present dangerous condi tion. Now, therefore, the City of Astoria does ordain as follows; Sec. 1. That Cedar street, in tho town, (now city) of Astoria, as laid out and recorded by J. M. Shively, between West Sixth street and Salmon street be, and the same Is hereby declared a nui sance and as such condemned as a pub lic highway and declared unsafe for travel. Sec. 2. The street superintendent is hereby authorized and so ordered to tear up said street at each end so as to prevent travel, that Is to say. between West Sixth street and Salmon street, and to so barricade said street as to prevent travel over the same, and also to prevent accident.
