Europe, it is said, is indebted for this wholesome food supply and France for a source of much wealth to the cod fishery of New foundland. It is alleged that, prior to 1613, when the New. foundland fisheries were estab lished, sardines were unknown on the coasts of Europe. In curing the cod, the entrails are cast into the sea, and detritus weigh ing millions of kilogrammes are swept away by the ocean cur rents.. When the wind blows from the north these out-scourings drift toward the coast of Europe, whith er they are followed by innumera ble shoals of sardines--so much so that 2;000,000,000 are sometimes caught in a year by the French fishermen alone. If the wind blow in a uillerent direction, tne detri tus remain at large in the ocean, and so do the sardines. Accord ing as the north winds prevail, so is the sardine fishinfr sood. 3v oV-onc Blood Elixir is nVCAs.W only Blood Remedy o-uaranlccd.
