Dur ing the session of the Lutheran Evangelical Synod at iiooneville, Philip Grcig, a wealthy citizen of Mount Auburn, who- was present as adelegate, fell, as was supposed, dead from apoplexy. Tho re mains were hurriedly prepared for burial and shipped to the home of the deceased. Ten hours after the supposed death the remains arrived here. The baggageman who had handled the coilin related that he had heard the dead man kick against the box three or four times and that it did not handle like a dead weight. Word was sent to the chief of police at Cin cinnati and information had been telegraphed that on tho coffin be ing opened the man was found ly ing on his face, his shroud was torn to shreds and there were oth er indications to show that he had come to life after being placed in the coffin. The Pitch-de Young Case. San Francisco, May 9. In the Fitch-de Young libel suit the plaintiff brought in as" testimony the account for 37,000, and the bank account in possession of the Call-Bulletin, according to their own editorials just after the al leged "cave down the bank." In spite of objections bv the defense, they were admitted. A statement from the book was given to show it was the product of legitimate business.
