A Warning Against Using it for Oon 1 tracts or Eecords Beoanse it Pades, I was chattine: the other day with the vico president of one of I tue trunk lines of railway, wnen a messenger entered with an important contract, having twenty one years to run. It was a traf fic agreement with a competing line, and was a very valuable doc ument. It happened to be writ ten with a typewriter in aniline ink. Upon seeing this he positive lv refused to sicrn the nauer. He then took the contract to the pres ident of the road and said: "Alp , if you want to sign this contract you can do it, but I never will." Vhen asked why, he re plied: "It is written in aniline ink, which fades, and long before the expiration of this contract this document will be entirely faded and practically worthless." The result was the return of the con tract, with a request that hereafter all important documents, the pres ervation of which is desirable, should be written in ink that would not fade. During General Grant's term as president one of his cabinet officers discovered that the records ot an important branch of one of the de partments had been for twoyeais written in purple ink. He had at once issued an order forbidding its use in the department, pur chased a new sot of books, into which two years7 records were copied, and thus saved what in a few years would have been lost. It is one of the problems of chem istry to find something which will make permanent the beautiful ani line colors, but thus far all efforts have failed. It is growing more and more, lite custom to have deeds, .con tracts and valuable documents! printed on a type-writer in ani line ink. This is a great mistake, because in a few years they are sure to be obliterated. Eastern Letter. No Eoom Por Drones. The season is now at hand when we may expect a large immigra-' tion. Experience should teach all who expect to visit us that it takes live men to make a live town. Dead men are only fit to inhabit cemeteries. If they are decently dead, dead all over, we tenderly lay .them away in the sleep of the tomb; but if they are-dead to all enterprises, outside of the narrow plane of their own selfish interests and yet persist in walking around, moving their dry bones and cal loused hearts and consciences where real business is wont to throb and push with vigor, they are only drone bees in the way until they are stung to death and dragged outside the hive of legiti mate industry. Murray Sun. Just before the recent cold snap in Georgia, a Cave Springs citizen threw a lot of spoiled "brandy cher ries" into the back yard. His geese ate them greedily, and became dead drnnk. Their owner thought they were dead, and thriftily plucked them. An hour or two later they were walking around the yard, and when the cold snap came, tho owner had to bundle them up in flannel to keep them from freezing. rvOV Trifle with any Throat have a Cough or Col3, or tho children are threatened with Croup or "Whoop ing Cough, use Acker's English Rem edy and prevent further trouble.
