Cap tain McCullough, who arrived a few days ago in command o tbo brig William G. Jncin, from the Sandwich Islands, relates a remark able story of Chinese enmity against King Kalakaua. He states that a certain Chinese firm paid a bribe of 70,000 to a native officer holding a high position to secure his influence in obtaining the ex clusive right to sell opiuni in the Hawaiian kingdom, and that the Chinese firm in question failed to secure the prize. They then demanded a return of the bribe, which was refused. McCullough further states the Chinese have de cided not to submit to what they consider an outrage, and when he left the walls of Honolulu were covered with handbills in Chinese offering a reward of $5,000 for the head of King Kalakaua. It is said the guards hive been doubled about the palace. Wheat is now higher in San Francisco than in New York, a most unusual stato of affairs. In New York it is quoted at 91 to 92 cents per bushel and in San Francisco at $1 or a fraction over, a difference of about eight cents per bushel in favor oi San Fran cisco. This has been brought about by San Francisco dealers making a corner, and obtaining the control of all California wheat. vyjvu "Would enjoy your din 3 ner and aie prevented by Dyspepsia, use Acker's Dyspepsia Tablets.
