Gray, who originally in troduced the bill, said as first drawn he opposed some of its pro visions, as it contained tome that were not cons-istent; but the bill as amended made matters much woise than before as to the pro tection of salmon. He moved that the bill be amended to increase the size of all these meshes, three inches, three and a-half inches, etc. Allen said the committee had investigated this matter at length, bad heard the testimony of wit nesses, and had amended the bill accordingly. Barin said the bill contained many good provisions, and should! pass. He had heard the testimony of over 100 witnesses, and had al so visited Astoria with the com mission. If God Almighty had drawn the bill it wouldn't satisfy all these people. Weatherford agreed with Gray that if the bill passed large meshes should be provided for, as in the law of 1878. Gray's amendments for three and four inch meshes were all voted down, and the bill was or dered engrossed for passage to morrow. 3k ftrovar',ood Elixir i3 tho t.Vli 9 only Blood Remedy guaranteed.
