A railway postal clerk who ar rived in Portland from Ashland last Monday reports that trains will run into Montague, on the California and Oregon railroad, on and after the 9th. The stage from Ashland will connect with tho train at Montague, and the dis tance between Ashland and Mon tague is only fifty miles. An, im mense forco is at work aud in a week or ten days track will be laid to Laird's ten miles iurther on, and this will reduce the stag ing to about forty mile3. , From Montague to the Siskiyou mount ains there is about twenty-five miles of comparatively level coun try, in which the road can be built very rapidly. The road is to be pushed to an early completion, and it ia predicted that it will be completed to a junction with the Oregon and California by July 1, 1857. A New Incorporation. The Umpqua River Railroad and Improvement company has filed articles of incorporation in the of fice cf the secretary of state. The capital stock is $50 000, and the incorpoiaiors are J. C. Kuykendall, One of the pur poses of the com pat 13 is to build u railroad from Gardner, Douglas county, Oregon, to Buise City, Idaho, the general course to be easierl3', along the Umpqua river, to Elkton; Ihonco on the same course along Elk Creek to Drain, on the O. & C.
