SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2015 F OR 11 A THE LOVE OF PETS Florence Area Humane Society continues tradition with Wine and Chocolate Gala B Y C HANTELLE M EYER Siuslaw News O nce again, the chocolate fountain flowed during the Florence Area Humane Society’s (FAHS) 23rd annual Wine and Chocolate Gala at Three Rivers Casino Resort last Friday. According to FAHS board member and gala coordinator Jackie Allen, 150 people attended the event and raised a total of $10,527 for the animal shelter. While pianist Tres Eberhard played popular and classic melodies, Mike Bones made announcements and led the auction. Some of the auction items included sports tickets for University of Oregon and Oregon State University games, books by local authors, stained glass and paintings by region- al artists and coupons, equipment and pet-relat- ed decorations donated by area businesses and individuals. Besides the chocolate fountain and dip- pable treats donated by Three Rivers, savory hors d’oeuvres and sweet pastries were pro- vided by Fresh Harvest Cafe and Bakery, Homegrown Public House, Bay Street Grille, Lovejoy’s Restaurant and Tea Room and FAHS volunteers. “Thank you to everyone who came out to support the animals,” Allen said. “The evening was lively and a fun event.” The first 100 guests received a commem- orate stemless wine glass of the event. Other business sponsors of the event, auc- tion and raffle included author Judy Fleagle, Raining Cats and Dogs, Mary Ann’s Natural Pet, Given Back Bird Houses, City Lights Cinemas and On Your Feet with Splash. Woody Woodbury and Grocery Outlet donated the wine for the evening.
