Library presents annual
Hang It All in May
After the success of the
inaugural “Hang It All 2” in
2014 with a landscape theme,
the Siuslaw Public Library
will again present this event,
with this year’s theme being
“Water.”
Artwork will be on display
throughout the month of May
in the lobby gallery and lobby
display case. This is the first of
two opportunities for all of our
local artists and craftspeople to
display their talents.
All artists and craftspeople
are invited to enter this non-
juried art show. This is a great
opportunity for all artists,
whether professional, beginner
or in-between, to display their
talent in a popular community
exhibit.
Artists may submit one
entry per person in any medi-
um.
Two-dimensional
items
must be framed and wired for
hanging. No “sawtooth” hang-
ers are allowed.
Maximum size for flat work
is 38 inches measured either
horizontally or vertically.
Three-dimensional items
must fit into the display case.
Maximum accepted size is 12
inches deep by 12 inches by 24
inches.
All entries should be hand-
delivered to the Bromley
Room of the main library in
Florence on Friday, May 1
between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
No shipped items will be
accepted.
Information brochures are
available at both the main
library and the Mapleton
Branch.

City Lights, Siuslaw News host Earth Day film today
In celebration of Earth Day,
April 22, City Lights Cinemas
and the Siuslaw News will be
partnering together to present
“Planetary” at noon and 6:30
p.m. Wednesday.
Directed by Guy Reid,
“Planetary” presents a stunning
visual portrait of our Earth,
taking viewers on a journey
across continents: from the
African savannah to the
Himalayas, and from the heart
of Tokyo to the view of our
fragile planet from orbit.
Through intimate interviews
with a diversity of people, from
NASA astronauts and environ-
mentalists to philosophers and
Tibetan lamas, the film
explores our shared future.
It suggests that the key to
transforming our civilization
lies in an understanding that all
life is inseparably intercon-
nected, and that we cannot
change the world unless we
change the way we see our-
selves, our planet and the wider
cosmos we are embedded with-
in.
Tickets are $9 for adults, $8
for seniors, $7.50 for students,
