Supt. On the 20th inst. I visited the school in District No. 11. Here I found Miss Blanche Carter and eleven pupils work icg diligently. As I approached the school house, I noted that the flag was dis, laved. Anotner nag is epi moiuo the building, also. Everything indica ted that the work was being well done, The pupils from each home have a cup from which to drink. These are filled from a cup from which no one drinks, thus avoiding any contamination of the water by dipping cups into the water pail. The cups and water-pail are dis infected by boiling once a week. On the same day, I visited the school 3n Clark's Canyon. Miss Julia M. Forbes is the teacher. The pupils were busy closing up the work of the term, which will close this week. This school and the school in Distiict No. 11 will join in a picnic tomorrow. Since my former visit the schoolhouse has been painted inside and outside. A conveni ent porch and an excellent cloak room bave been built. Excellent window boards bave been provided for all the windows, but the carpenter fitted some of the windows too closely to per mit their being raised, which renders some of the boards useless The walls have been tastily decorated. On Arbor day several trees were planted by the teacher and pupils. Ou the following dav, I visited the school in District No. 32, Miss Bertha Morgan teaches this school. This school is small, but the teacher and pupils are enthusiastic in their work. I greatly enjoved the story tilling period. The school planted several nice trees on Arbor Day, and are planning ti keep them alive during the vacation. Quite a number of improvements have been made in the equiptment of this school recently, which indicates a good school spirit. ., , In District No. 3, the pupils, nnaer the direction of the teacher, Miss Clara Keid, celebrated Arbor Day by cleaning up the school yard and planting some Not all the reports are in for last month, but several schools report one bundrea per cent oi auenuauce. EB IT Are The Statement of Heppner Citizens Mot .Tlore Reliable Than Thoit of l iter Stranger'? This is a vital question. It is fraught with interest to Heppner. It permits of only one answer. It cannot be evaded or ignored. A Heppner citizen speaks here, speaks for the welfare of Hsppner. A citizen's statement is reliable. An utter stranger's doubtful. Home proof is the best proof. A. S.
