In the dough mixer herewith shown, designed by a Kansas man, the -work is not ouly made easier and done more effectively than by spoon or hand, but the dough ueed not be touched by the fingers. The mixer consists of a cylin crtcal vessel with a removable cap and a sieve in the cap. In the bottom of the cylinder is a block with n DOUGH MIXEH. tapered bore, in which a central shaft Tunning through the cap rotates. Pro jecting from this central shaft below the cap are arms with long, thin, ver tical paddles attached. The flour and other Ingredients are poured through the sieve, and by turning the handle that operates the shaft the paddles mix the contents of the receptacle thoroughly until it is of the proper consistency. The result' Is a better dough than can be mixed by beating .with spoon or knife. Laundry Lor. Use borax water to wash heather bloom or black sateen petticoats. Do not nse soap In tbe water and do nor rwash these articles with other pieces, tor they gather and hold the lint. Lingerie waists can be bleached If waked two days In sour buttermilk. It Is a harmless bleach, and a very sitls xactory one. Wash tbe garments in .the usual manner. Wash tbe chamois skins you use In honsecleanlng in water containing soda and rinr-e tbera in soapy water. Waahineton, Jan. 21. After per fecting plans for future conclaves, the conference ot Governors yesterday adjourned to meet at one of the state capitals between next Thanksgiving and Christmaa. The final sessions were marked by a divergency of views as to the wis dom of the slate executives as a body passing resolutions for or against an proposition. Several Governors main tained that the greatest good would be accomplished by a courageous an definite stand udou public questions while others maintained that the conferences were in the nature of school for the Governors, where each learned from the experience of his fellows. Eventually all resolutions calling for a formal expression were left in abeyance. A subcommittee of the League of Self-Snpnorting Women of New Yont submitted a statement recommending that the political status of women be made one of the topics at the next meeting. The committee appointed Wednes day to consider a resolution introduced by Governor Eberhardt, of Alinnesot relative to recommending legislation to Congress in regard to the jurisdic tion of Federal and state courts reported that such recommendations came within tne province 01 me President of tho United States and were not within tne scope 01 me conference. No action was taken on the reDort of the committee. Governor Sliafroth, of Colorado, introduced a resolution stating that it was the sense of. the coufereuce that the control and regulation of water powers should rest in the state. Thia was referred to a committee con sisting of Governors Shafroth, Hughes and Weeks. The committee was unable to report and the matter protfa bly will be taken up at the next con ference. Governor Brady, of Idaho, addressed the conference on "Irrigation." "Minnig" was the topic of Governor Sloan, of Arizona. Governor Carroll, of Iowa, read a paper on "Divorce." He had little hope, he said, of ever living to see absolute uniformity in laws on this or any other subject, bnt he thought some points in reference to the divorce laws could be made uniform, such as length of residence necessary to obtain a divorce, and tbe causes for divorces. As corrective measures, he recom mended education and better marriage laws. Lyflnnali Tripe. Cut the tripe into narrow strips, boil twenty-five minutes, then drain. The future of the Vale oil fields from a commeroial standpoint is now an assured fact. The crude product all of a pat i fine base and most valuable of all crude oils for refining purposes is the reward now of the men who have worked persistently night and day for the past year been drilling with expen sive special machinery and high priced laboi to obtain the results now within their reach. Of the six com panies now drilling four have suc ceeded beyond any doubts in obtain ing at depths raging from 900 to 1700 feet a stream of the liquid wealth that will assure the stockholders of those companies huge return on their invesstments and the most flourishing times of Beaumont, Teaxs. and Coal ings, Cal. , will be surpassed in the Vale oil fields in eastern Oregon in the near future. Plans for a pipe line to tidewater and an immense refinery to handle the product are now being promul gated and it is the unqualified opinion of several of the lea-ling expert oil geogolists who hav recently experted the fields that Oregon will become in 1910 the largest oil producing, section in the United States. The Eastern Oregon Oil & Gas Co. is credited with having the largest flow of oil with the Columbia Oil & Gas Co. a close second, while the Mammoth Oil & Gas Co., with their immense holdings of 7000 acres, will no doubt top them all. Stockholders who have secured holdings of shares in these companies have in some rases realized 100 to 200 per cent profit on their investments and the stocks of any of the above named comcanies say bosinees men and bankers who are qualified to know are splendil investments at present prices. nd 1000 shares secured r.ow may mean a fortune a little 'later on. The United States government will shortly survey the fields officially and then will be witnessed an influx of investors, capitalists. manu facturers, etc. . that will add 200,000 population and millions invested in this the greatest unleveloped empire in America. Notice to Waolgrovrcra. The annual meeting of the Morrow County Woolgrowers Association will be held in Heppner, on Saturday, Feb ruary 12, 1910. All members and other sheepmen are earnestly requested to at tend, as matters of importance to the industry will be brought up for consid eration, and tbe election if officers for the ensuing year.
