He was a native of Marion county, this state, where he was born 43 years aro. His father and mother, after crossing the plains from the East, died ehottly after they reached theb goal. He was reared and eduea'ed by fliends cf the family in Marion county, and after he became of ae came to Portland where he studied dentistry for some time. Later he went to Philadel phia to complete a course in the Dental Co ete of that city. Upon his leHirn to Portland he opened ofll es in the Mat.piam building, which tie continued for about three years, before removing to the Hamilton building on Third street.
