No comprehensive statement of the cost of building of t lie new court house of Morrow county having been hereto fore published, and believing it to be due to the taxpayers of the county to know exactly what the same has cost them, or will have cost them, when paying for the structure is completed, I have prepared from my records the fol lowing detailed statement, which shows the amount of warrants issued on ac count of building the house. In pre paring this statement, I have had in view the fact of putting everything into it that occurred as an item of expense in connection with the construction, hence it may appear that some of the items did not have to do with the build ing of the house proper, but they were incurred, nevertheless, on account thereof. In this statement, the first table is the contracts, and the amounts thereof, as awarded by the county court, and cover only the construction of the build ing proper, and is as follows: Frand Duprat, stone work $21,670.50 R C Wills, carpenter work, plastering, painting, etc 14.G08.50 J E Davis, steel vault and jail doors, bars and fixtures.... The Pacific Monthly for November continues to show the steady improve ment that characterizes this splendid magazine. The cover is perhaps the most striking of the unusually interest ing designs that The Pacific Monthly has been having this year. The head ings for the departments are all new, and two new departments are added to the magazine. One of these is "Optim ism" and the other is "Light." "Ac tions" replaces the old department "The Month," "Literature" replaces "The Reader," and "Humor" replaces "The Lighter Side." The other de partments show an overhauling and an improvement a constant bettering of the magazine. The news of both Hemisphere in The Weekly Oregonlan. LOOK HERE An Opportunity to the Public.
